Save your money for something you want!

Going to the grocery store can be expensive. With constant rising prices it is only nice to find a way to save more money. Here are some ways that you should already be doing but if you’re not it’s never too late to start saving! Here are a couple quick tips to remember when doing your shopping.

Rule number one and the golden rule; the only time you should deviate from your list is for a great deal. And then it is ok to stock up (reasonably) well things are on sale.

Now think of a budget for your groceries taking an idea of what your needs are and stock to it. Keep a total on you at the store of how much items are. If you’re not a math whiz, its ok, just bring a calculator. If you feel like a calculator toting dork at the store, remember to just buy yourself something nice with the money you save. And when you calculating your total don’t forget to include tax!

Now when beginning to make a grocery list one should try a couple things like; planning your meals in advance, and make sure to scan your cupboards, fridge, and pantry for things you already have, and do not buy again. It will also keep you from grabbing extra things that you may not use but are grab by habit or just in case you missed it.

Also, remember also that some non-grocery items (toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, deodorant, shampoos) can usually be bought a cheaper store like Wal-Mart or a dollar store.

And one thing to consider that saves many huge sums is buying store brands instead of name brands unless you have coupons!

Aha yes, coupons! If you have a preferable grocer you like to use try visiting their website or buying the Sunday paper for coupons. Reference your coupons well making your list as to maximize the value. A lot of times soda and snack items are featured as buy one get one free or half price coupons. Another tip is to sign up for your local shops savers club card, shoppers have been known to save as big as with many coupons and could even use them both to create a better saving opportunity for yourself.

But if you remember nothing else on your way to the store I am telling you remember this one thing; whatever you do try not to shop hungry, statistics have shown that this is where the most impulse buying occurs and coincidently the most calories are gained because many buy chips, snacky cakes, and cheesy poofs things you can eat quick or snack on. But if you do crave these items know this; statistically, most junk food is bought for the weekend, so the Sunday paper usually has good deals during the week using coupons!
