THE CAR

How I Sold a Car in Two Hours by CoryLavel

Recently a friend of mine, asked me to sell her car. I think she asked me to sell it because I am pretty good at selling things online through Ebay, Craigslist and many other sites. When she asked me to do this, she also asked me to sell her car in five days. I thought to myself, this lady must not know how hard it is to sell a car, let alone within five days. Then I started to focus my energy on how I was going to sell her car. The first thing I did was compare her car with the other cars in the market online. She was selling a 2004 Cadillac Cts with 84,000 miles and she wanted $15,000. The other cars with that same year with 44,000 miles where selling for $13,000. I convinced her to lower her price to 12,000 to to be more attractive to buyers. Lowering her price would make her car stand out above the competition. She agreed and allow me to list it as 12,000 or best offer.

I began the work of marketing and promoting the car online first. The first the thing I did was put the car as my picture on my myspace page, www.myspace.com/corylavel. Then I put it on my facebook page, www.facebook.com/corylavel . Then I put it on my twitter page as well, www.twitter.com/corylavel. I first used social networking sites including Hubpages to advertise the car. From this, many people on Myspace and Facebook asked and made offers on the car, most were low offers of $8,000 or 9,000 not quite close enough to our set number of $12,000. The next thing I did was use Craigslist to list it online and uploaded a couple pictures.  You must have good pictures of the car when trying to sell it, or dont try! The next thing I did was list it on as many free car selling sites as I could, www.sellmycar.com etc. There are so many that are free sites to list you will get lost in it, but all free promotion is good.

I even listed the car on www.cars.com and that one cost me $15.00 dollars, but that is a very small amount considering they will put your car in front of 8 million potential visitors to the site. And if you really want to sell your car fast, you will do it! The most important thing to selling a car fast is make sure the car is priced right! Most professional car salesmen lose a sale because the car is overpriced. Next make sure you have good pictures and they are posted online, everywhere! Once my listing was up I got tons of calls because people knew I had priced it right and it looked good from my pictures online. A couple people low balled me and I told them No quickly, get rid of the cheapskates, that want to waste your time, you have your price so stick to it, or get very close to it. In my second hour I get a call from a man who noticed my ad on Craigslist (a free site) and makes me an offer of $11,500. I then called my friend, the owner of the car and she thought that price was great. I invited the buyer to come see the car and he noticed the car had rims and a great sound system box in the trunk and asked to buy that as well for an extra 300 dollars. He ended up buying the car and system for $11,800, not $12,000 but close enough! $11,800 isn't bad for a couple hours work, and everyone was happy with the deal, I think I am going to sell my car next.
