The first thing I would say is if you want to say out of jail know the laws in your jurisdiction and do not violate them. Basically do not preform any criminal acts. This article is not legal advice it more common sense orientated. Next if you are pulled over or stopped by a police officer be polite. You would be surprised how many times that politeness has kept me from getting a ticket. If you are on the defensive from the start you are probably going down.

Even if you have a good explanation for why you are in violation. If you drive a car use common sense, check your tail lights once in a while, your tires and mirrors. You know what the police are looking for, do not give them a chance to find a violation. Be responsible and cover your butt. If you have stickers on your car that indicate your affinity towards certain types of groups that are known for their illicit activity. Take them off of your car. 

Working with law enforcement for several years you would not believe how many times police officers pull over people just because they have certain stickers on their car. Its was kind of a joke with them if they needed a bust to pull over a car with a dead head sticker or a Rastaman sticker on a car. Nine times out of ten we know what they will find in these cars. 

Keep your life private if you must do things that are against the law or questionable. Do them at home, keep your business to yourself. This will go along way at keeping you out of the slammer. I realize that many people dress to get attention, this will also attract the attention of the police. Try to blend in, it only makes sense that officials would be looking for people that stick out. Use common sense do not blatantly violate the law and brag about it. Its much better not to violate the law anywhere, again be polite and courteous. Being nice to any of the officers who stop to ask you questions will more than likely keep you from being the next person in county jail.

Last but not least if you are black or hispanic you should use extra caution.

At year end 2007 there were 3,138 black male sentenced prisoners per 100,000 black males in the United States, compared to 1,259 Hispanic male sentenced prisoners per 100,000 Hispanic males and 481 white male sentenced prisoners per 100,000 white males.
