Example Program for Average Smoker

Step One: The Pre quit

Weeks one and two: Wear the patches and gradually cut down the smoking. Stop smoking at the end of two weeks.

Step 2: After quitting.

  • Gradually cut down the strength of the patches over a ten week period.
  • Use the nicotine lozenges whenever you feel the need to smoke but try to gradually cut down. (If you normally smoke within thirty minutes of getting up you will need the 4mg lozenges. If you wait until later, you will need the 2 mg lozenges).
  • Most people find they need a lozenge every one to two hours (up to a maximum of 15) in the first six weeks. Fifteen lozenges deliver the same amount of nicotine as fifteen cigarettes.
