How to Stop a Dog Barking

There is nothing worse than a dog that continually barks especially for no reason. If you have a dog that barks it is not only annoying to you but also your neighbors.

First of all, dogs need to bark. It is there way of communicating. They will bark if an intruder comes into their home, if they are in pain, as a greeting and when they are happy.

Sometimes however dogs will bark continuously. When this happens it is usually because the dog is not happy but it can be fixed. You can actually stop your dog from barking.

Why Do Dogs Bark Continuously?

Dogs that bark for hours on end don't do it because they are happy. It usually means there is a problem and it could be any one of the following:

  • boredom
  • stress
  • loneliness
  • lack of attention
  • lack of exercise

Remember that dogs are pack animals and when they are without their pack (namely you and anyone else living in your home) they get lonely, stressed and bored.

The same happens at night If you leave your dog outside or locked in a laundry or room. Again they are without their pack and many will bark or whine out of stress and/or lonelines..
