Podcasts are a type of digital audio show about any number of subjects.  It is just like watching a talk show, except in most cases it is audio-only.  The term podcast came from the words iPod and broadcast but now generally refers to the acronym Personal On Demand Broadcast.  Since podcasts were developed and evolved thanks to Apple iTunes and iPod technology, the easiest way to subscribe to podcasts is via iTunes.

Open iTunes and let it load. You can connect your iPod or iTouch if you want, but it is not necessary. You want to navigate to the iTunes Music Store, and you can either browse the podcast listings or search for ones based on keywords. Once your search listings load, you can click on the subscribe button. From there, the podcast will transfer to your sidebar under the podcast link. It will begin to download the latest podcast, and you can begin to download previous ones either by clicking one at a time or clicking them all.

iTunes will begin downloading the podcasts to your iTunes library and computer. When the podcast is finished downloading, you can either listen or watch it via iTunes or transfer them to your iPod or iTouch to watch or listen there. You can set the podcast up to download automatically with each new one or you can download them mainly. You can sync your iPod or iTouch to automatically transfer podcasts to it as well. However, depending on the podcast, you may begin running out of room on your device the more podcasts that are transferred to it.

You can delete podcasts after listening to them while staying subscribed to the overall podcast, too.  Podcasts are a great way to keep up to date on the latest news, sports, TV shows and more.  Many web sites, bloggers and more are investing in podcasting as a way to reach audiences and iTunes allows you to easily manage any podcasts you want to subscribe to.
