Thin Hair? You Can Still Make It Look Thick!

If you are constantly trying everything you can to make your look thicker, and still haven't succeeded, let me give you a few tips for hair thickening and how to do it right now. You may be going out for a night on the town, or to a party, or on a date...etc. etc.

Women always want to have a perfect head of hair, and for some of us, it is a struggle. Now just so you know, nothing beats the long term hair care for thick hair, such as taking your vitamins and eating right and so on. And if you really want to have the thick hair, then there are things that you can do to really make it happen, it just takes a lot of time and effort. Read up on these tips now.

But for right now, it sounds like you may be wanting or needing the thick hair quick. We can do that! Before I get in to what I call the "poofing process," keep in mind that soft hair is completely your enemy. I wash my hair the night before. I do use conditioner, (Pantene actually. So my hair is soft to begin with. Now the work lies in getting it poofy, (NOT FRIZZY) just adding some poof! Read on........

After You Wash Your Hair...And Before You Go To Bed

When you get done washing and conditioning your hair, put your hair up in a towel for a few minutes to get all of the excess water off. Only a few minutes though! If you get it too dry, it will be too soft, and it will be hard to poof up your hair. If you want a tip on the best hair thickening shampoo, here is mine. Pantene. I know that this is not really a "thickening shampoo." But believe me, if I use anything else, my hair doesn't do good at all. I have tried probably every hair product out there for thickening hair, no joking. And Pantene is the best. As for hair thickening conditioner? Pantene again. Try it if you haven't, it works.

First, comb your hair straight. Make sure all tangles are out. Then put in your mousse. I say don't go the cheapest route with mousse, I have never found the cheap hair products to work very well. By cheap, I don't mean your popular products like Herbal Essence and Pantene and all of that.....I mean products like Suave and White Rain that are only 99 cents a bottle<-----They don't work. I prefer either Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Boosting Mousse. or Finesse Curl Defining Mousse. Sometimes I even use half of one, and half the other.

Make sure you get the mousse on all of your hair, a palm full usually does the trick. As you are distributing the mousse throughout your hair, start taking your hands and scrunching up your hair. By this, I mean you are going to make your hair a bit curly, so bunch up the hair in the palm of your hand, and squeeze it up so that you are creating waves in your hair.

Next, spray with a kind of curling hair spray. (Remember, this is all while your hair is still wet.) I used to use Aussie Sprunch Spray. This was absolutely THE best hair spray for making your hair curly. They have changed the formula though, and it doesn't work at all anymore.

Note to the makers of Aussie: You Suck. And I wrote to you guys asking why you did this, and never got a response. Now everyone will have to move on to the other curly hair products, I hope you are happy now that you have decided to go the cheaper route in formulating your hair sprays.

I can not express enough to anyone, just how mad I am about this. Actually, I'm going to stop here because I just realized I am going to write a hub about that. I can do that!

Moving on to better products. The hairspray(s) I use now, and yes it's more that one because I have yet to find anything that compares to the OLD Aussie by itself....If anyone reads this and knows of something, PLEASE leave me a comment! Anyway! The hairspray I use now is TRESemme (Tres Two) Super Hold. I use the pump hair spray, I don't think that aersosol works the same for scrunching hair. Spray this on your wet and moussed up hair. Spray it all over. Bend Your head forward, and spray the very back also. You need to make sure you have some spray on every bit of your hair.

Now, with your head still bent over in front of you, put your diffuser on your hair-dryer. Make sure your dryer is on high heat. While blow-drying your hair, use the diffuser to scrunch up your hair. Put it at the bottom of your hair, and push in an upwards motion. This will scrunch up your hair. Do the same in the back. Of course you will need to lift your head into a normal position for this. Tilt head to the side, and put the hair-dryer underneath, and scrunch up the hair near your neck. Make sure that you spray your hair with the TRESemme here and there, even while you are blow-drying. Once hair is almost dry, take the diffuser off to finish up. Continue drying until hair is completely dry. (The hardest part to get dry is near the neck, so be sure to use the dryer underneath there too.) If your hair is the least bit wet, it will weigh it down, which is a thin hair persons worst enemy.

Now, don't forget, I do all of this at night before I go to bed. Trust me, it makes a huge difference! Washing it and styling it in the morning leaves your hair too soft, and it will not curl up as well. I also find myself having a lot more hair frizz if I try to do it all in the morning.

Once your hair is completely dry, use a medium size curling iron to curl your ends under. If you use the tiny curling irons, it gives you the kinky curls, and you don't want that. The big size curling irons give a curl that doesn't hold well. The medium is perfect.

While you are curling your ends under, give each curl that you are doing a little spray of the TRESemme while you have the curling iron in. This will help to lock in the curl. And once you have all of the ends of your hair curled under, then use a light shaping spray all over. This will kind of lock everything in for your night of sleep. I love the Christophe brand Shaping Spray, as it is light and doesn't make your hair sticky. I consider this my hair thickening hair spray. You can use your favorite hair spray for this part, I just prefer the Christophe myself. It makes the hair feel thicker. For this, I do use the aerosol.

Now, take a comb, (a thick tooth comb) and kind of tease your hair. Don't tease it big and poofy, that's not what I mean. Just take the comb, and tease it in a way that you are simply breaking up the clumps of hair. When you have thin hair, to make it look thicker, the key is to make it look like you have more, right? That is what you are doing here. When you put mousse and hairspray in wet hair, it holds the hair together in what I call clumps. You are just pulling the hairs away from each other, which makes it look like you have more.

After you have done this, just twist your hair up in the back, and clip it on the top of your head. There is no certain way to do this, and the messier the better. Spray one last time with the shaping spray, and sleep like this.

Thicker Hair In The Morning!

When I get up , I take my bath while my hair is still up. I do everything before I do my hair. I put on my make-up, have a little coffee, get dressed, whatever your routine is. Just do your hair last.

When you take your hair down, of course it is going to look a little crazy...you want it to! Run your hands through it to kind of shake it up a bit. Then I use a spray from TRESemme called Curl Reactivation Styling Mist. Spray it all over, not to soak the hair, just to get it slightly damp. Then turn your head upside down and blow-dry. While you are blow-drying, spray the hair with the TRESemme Super Hold that you used the night before.

You will notice a much thicker head of hair now. What you do from here is all up to you. I wear my hear in a high ponytail. It looks like you have the thickest hair in the world.

One last thing that I do to make my hair look thicker is wear the Bumpit. If you don't know about the Bumpit, read my review about it here.  The Bumpit in my opinion, is the best hair thickening product there is.  I love my Bumpit.

Have A Good Hair Day!

Hopefully you got a little something from this.  This all may seem like a long process.  It really isn't.  It's my daily routine, and I am a very busy person.  If it took hours to do, I sure couldn't do it.  And once you get into your own routine, it doesn't take long at all.  Good Luck!
