Brief History of My Little Pony

To better understand how to throw the perfect my little pony birthday party I thought we should first cover the basic history of My Little Pony's.

My little pony began as a collection of toy ponies (known as “My Pretty Pony”), all of which were being targeted and sold to younger aged girls, while they were still in that mindset of loving ponies. The creator of the hot selling toy ponies was none other than the very well reputed Hasbro. The ponies were made in many colors, which is one reason they were so attractive to these young girls. They were made in a form that made them appear almost magical to these little girls. Because of this “magical feeling” these ponies were very hot sellers, and continue to be so. At some points throughout the years, the “My Pretty Pony” toys outsold the very popular “Barbie”. Needless to say, the toy was a very hot seller.

Soon after the release of the pony toys in the 1980’s, the TV show “My Little Pony” sprung into action. The series began exactly in 1983, and since has had a very great deal of success. Currently, the show is still being aired in the US, and millions of viewers turn in every day to watch it. Demographics of the viewers are usually females below the age of 7. Soon after the release of the show, the movie was released. The movie did not do so well, possibly because many parents were not willing to attend a movie that was made for a much younger group. On the other hand, the TV show was successful because children could watch it from the comfort of their home. As for the movie, the box office sales did not surpass six (6) million dollars in the USA. The majority of the reviews were also negative.

Nonetheless, My Little Pony recovered quickly with a number of very, very widely enjoyed TV shows once again. For anyone who watched the show, it was easy to see that the main goal of the series was to promote the toy, as it was the biggest money maker for the company. Still, the show continued to be very amusing for the demographics being targeted. The company decided to introduce more ponies into the show, including an Earth pony and Pegasus – two of the most popular. One of the main characters was known as Gusty, who’s voice was played by the Nancy Cartwright, the same individual who played the voice of Bart (from the Simpsons) for many years.

The setting of the TV shows were quite unique. They were all set in a land known as Dream Valley. Dream Valley consisted of many magic creatures (witches, goblins, and others). The ponies in the show, as well as their dragon companion (known as Spike) would talk to the other magical creatures.

The show has been very successful, both with viewers, and in promoting their very popular toys. The show is one of the only to be started in the 1980’s, and still be aired regularly. The show will likely continue to be on for a very long time, as it is a popular hit with children, and a big marketing aid for the company’s toy ponies.

Creating a My Little Pony Birthday Cake

If you want to create your own My Little Pony Cake then here are a few ideas. The colors of the different pony's can be used for different colors of the actual cake. So the idea would be to make a cake in the color of your child's favorite pony. If they do not have a favorite pony I would suggest making the cake out of their favorite color. More update will follow soon so please come back often.
