Lakers - Celtics

The NBA Finals are here, the Celtics are already up 2-0 but we’re heading back to Los Angeles tonight, so invite the boys and some kittens over for a party everyone can enjoy.

1. Mind the audience. Yeah you want to watch the game without interruption, but girls interrupt. To avoid this set up a table in a different room for the girls to congregate in during the game. Add snacks, wine, and even some mixers at this table. This way, they don’t feel left out because the boys will be coming in for refills every now and then. It also doesn’t hurt to bring everyone to the girls table during halftime for some conversation. Not only does this allow you to meet the girls slowly, but gives you time to think about post-game strategy for how to seal the deal.

2. Have something planned for after the game. Depending on your locale, arrange for a drinking game or even something like horseshoes afterwards. Everyone will already be in a sporting mood and this will bring the party together.

3. Don’t depend on your team to get you laid. Rooting your heart out for the Lakers and having them lose is the worst because then you end up being the depressed guy after the game. If a girl asks who you are cheering for, explain that you’ve always liked the Lakers, but you’re just happy to see such a stoic rivalry renewed. This is where some prior sports knowledge will help as you can then explain the rivalry that the Celtics and Lakers have.

4. Don’t home team your house. Adorning the party venue with Lakers banners and colors will only make Celtics fans not want to be there, so keep things neutral. Yankees fans don’t have fun at Fenway so try not to bring that vibe to your place.

5. Be the host. Don’t forget that your boys and some girls are at the party. During mid-quarter lulls be sure to make the rounds, go mingle with all the guests. This will pay off for everyone at the end of the game.
