How to Transfer Files Between Computer and Cell Phone
77
If you use your cell phone to take listen to music, take pictures and record video, you may want to transfer those files to your computer. It is a lot easier than it ever was to do just that. Most new cell phones come with memory card slots which means that you take what is saved on the memory card, connect it to you computer and transfer the files by dragging and dropping them. If your cell phone does not come with a memory card slot, there are a few other tricks and tips to transferring files between computer and cell phone.
First, if your phone is Bluetooth enabled, you may be able to sync your phone to your computer if it is Bluetooth compatible. In order to find out if your computer is capable of this, you can either check the specifications or the manual. If it is, you set up the connection similar to how you sync your Bluetooth headset and then drag and drop files to your heart's content. Next, if that does not work, you can generally e-mail pictures, sounds and videos to an e-mail address the same way you would to someone via their phone through a text message.
Most phones allow you to text message an e-mail address. Simply set up your text message, attaching the picture or video, and then enter the e-mail address where you normally would a cell phone number. If you are planning on e-mailing yourself pictures and videos, enter your e-mail address in your contact list so that you do not have to always type it out. This makes it easier to send mass photos, videos and more to yourself without wearing your fingers out.
There are also cables you can purchase for most cell phones to sync them to your system like you would a digital camera or portable HD. Depending on the phone, you may need to install special software to get this to work. Most cell phone manuals will tell you what you need to do if this is the case. No matter how you set up your cell phone to transfer files, take the opportunity to learn how to do it so you can share what you take on the go with everyone on your computer.
