Dry Hair/Head Treatment

Your hair is dry, brittle with ends splitting. Your scalp is icky and flaky. This may be the solution you are looking for.

A good moisturizing shampoo and condition only gets you so far. Here are some handy tips (they many sound funny but they work!) using household goods.

  • Avocado and oatmeal: mix half an avocado with cooked oatmeal. Add water as needed to get mixture smooth. Add to clean wet hair make sure you get the roots thoroughly covered. Wrap in plastic wrap or plastic hairnet then warm towel. Let sit for about 30 minutes. Wash. You should do this about once a month. This mixture is also good for dry/oily skin.
  • Warm Olive Oil: This is a lot like the VO5 hot oil treatments that used to be sale. Add about 1/4 cup of warm olive oil to clean wet hair. Wrap in plastic wrap or plastic hairnet then warm towel. Let sit for about 30 minutes. Wash. You should only do this once a month. Hair may look oily for the first day.
  • Beer and Mayo: Add about 1/4 cup of mayo to 1 cup of beer and mix until smooth. Add to clean wet hair. Wrap in plastic wrap or plastic hairnet then warm towel. Let sit for about 30 minutes. Wash. Be warned that your hair will smell like beer for the first day. You should only do this once a month. Hair may look a little oily with first day.

Good luck. If you have problems keeping the towel warm, try a hair dryer get on light heat.

Thanks! I am looking forward to trying one of these! The avocado one looks especially good.

The avocado one is my favorite, since I can use the same mix as a facial! Two in one.
