Christmas trees can be as ornate or as simple as you like. There really is no right or wrong way to trim a tree.

Things You'll Need:

* Christmas Decorations

* Christmas Garlands

* Christmas Tree Lights

* Christmas Tree Ornaments

* Christmas Tree Skirts

* Christmas Tree Stands

* Christmas Trees

* Tinsel

Step1 Set the tree up where it will remain throughout the season. You don't want to have to move it once the decorations are on.

Step2 Make sure the branches are fully "fluffed." Branches get flattened sometimes during transport and storage.

Step3 Keep the tree away from drafts or heat source.

Step4 Water and clean the tree before you begin decorating it.

Step5 Test the lights to verify that they are working. Make sure that the plug can easily reach an outlet.

Step6 String up the lights. Begin at top of the tree and work your way down.

Step7 Decorate your tree with ornaments, garlands, tinsel or tin icicles. Homemade decorations can be fun to make and add an even more personal touch. Try stringing popcorn or cranberries into long garlands.

Step8 Place an ornament at the very top of the tree. Popular choices are angels or stars.

Step9 Sweep or vacuum up pine needles from under the tree.

Step10 Place a tree skirt around and under tree, if desired. Add wrapped presents.

I love Christmas! One of the things I made as a child for our tree was construction paper garlands. I'd cut the colored paper into strips. I'd make a circle and glue it together, then through that circle, put the next piece of paper through, glue that, and continue on until I had a very long garland. It was a lot of fun and kept me busy and out of the way of things my parents were doing. I think it is important to encourage children to make things to put on the tree. It strengthens family ties and encourages the development of a family tradition.

Nice hub, thanks for sharing.
