If you have just signed up for Twitter, you are probably a bit lost.  There are several different ways to Tweet.  Tweeting refers to posting status updates through the Twitter network.  These updates are then displayed on your profile and sent to your follows via their browser or their mobile devices.  Your followers' tweets will also be sent to your phone, browser or program depending on how you choose to interact with Twitter.

The most well-known way to use Twitter is via your cell phone. When you sign up for an account, you can link it to your cell phone so you can text message updates. These updates are sent to Twitter, where they are posted to your profile and sent to your followers. You can even, through third party web sites, post photos, videos and links of things happening in your life. If you take a picture or record a video on the go, you can update Twitter to reflect that and share it with your followers.

If you want to do more with Twitter, you can install browser plugins or download software to access the social network from your computer. Browser plugins allow you to update while surfing the Internet; it makes it easier to share photos, videos and links as you are right there updating without having to rely on your cell phone provider's text messaging service which can have a delay. Software also allows you to use a program to tweet, receive tweets, browse hashes or interacting in other ways with Twitter.

Finding the right way to use Twitter is key to getting the most out of the network.  Twitter was designed to be used on the go, and the cell phone or other mobile device is the primary way to take advantage of the service.  If you do not want to use your cell phone, there are other methods out there for keeping in touch with friends on Twitter.  Take the time to find the right way to Twitter, the sooner you do that the easier it will be to take advantage of everything Twitter has to offer.
