How to Tweet On a Computer
64When you use Twitter, you send out status updates to those following you. Those updates are called tweets. There are three primary ways to use Twitter on a computer to tweet: You tweet from the Twitter web site, you use a web browser plug-in or you use a desktop application. No matter which way you tweet, using Twitter on a computer is easy and convenient to do.
Once you sign up for a Twitter account, you can begin to tweet right away from the web site. There is a box you type your status into, submit and it updates instantly. After you sign up, you can also set up your cell phone to send and receive tweets. However, if you do not have a cell phone or do not want to use text messages, updating from Twitter's web site is the easiest and quickest way to get started.
The next step to using Twitter on your computer is to use a browser plug-in. Firefox offers the easiest option for that by allowing you to install extensions that give you access to Twitter. These extensions, such as TwitBin or TweetBar, act within the browser to allow you to post tweets, pictures, links and other media. You can also read your follower's tweets, respond to them directly and interact with public timelines through these Firefox extensions.
Finally, you can download applications to use Twitter on your desktop. TweetDeck is the most popular Twitter application. Once installed, you can tweet from the program, get tweets, browse timelines and more instantly. At the moment, TweetDeck is in beta programming but has become one of the most popular applications for tweeting.
No matter what way you decide to tweet, finding the best way to integrate Twitter into your life is the key to getting the most out of the social networking site. Twitter has become all the rage. In 140 characters or less, you can take advantage of tweeting to your heart's desire and keep the world apprised of what you are doing minute to minute.
