Facebook can be a great aid to an online business, if you know how to use it.

It can also be a great social networking tool, allowing you to make new friends and communicate with people all over the world.

You can just find hundreds, or even thousands, of new friends and then interact with them via the thousands of Applications on facebook.

Then, if you wish, you can promote your online businesses on your facebook profile and people might feel like they want to have a look at them. Don't spam your facebook friends, as you will get kicked of for spamming. If your profile is interesting and informative people will come and look and you will get legitimate traffic to your other sites. It's sort of "Build it and they will come.

OK. To get started just go to facebook.com

Complete the simple sign up details and set up your account. Remember your usercode and password.

When you have set up your account, edit your Profile. Update all of your Personal, Professional and Contact details. Up load a photo for your profile. If you have lots of photos, add some Albums to your profile and upload photos to them. Include family, friends, travel, gaden, whatever. People like to know about you so the more photos and information you give the more people will visit your profile.

Now you have a profile, the next thing to do is join a network. You can join your local Network, or select any city you like. Joining a Network lets you Browse for friends and search for friends to add.

Now invite your friends to join you. You can use your address book from Yahoo, Google, MSN, Windows Live or Outlook. This will send invites to all your contacts to come and sign up for facebook, where they also become your facebook friends automatically.

Now you can add your online businesses. In the left hand column you always see a heading that says "Applications". Above that is a Search Box.

Type "our Links" in the search box and hit enter. Find the "Our Links" Application and add it to your profile. Then complete the section that allows you to add links to your online businesses. You're done.

Now look at all the Applications available on facebook. Don't go mad, as there are thousands of them. Try adding just a few at first.

Then, browse your Network and ask people you like if they will add you as a friend. Many will, and before you know it you will have hundreds of friends.

Play games with them (like Scrabble, for example), send them messages, send them gifts, send them youtube videos in your messages.

Learn how to post to Funwall and Superwall (you will want to add these two Applications - it is how you can send broadcast messages to all your friends at once).

Try all this and have fun. Your friends will send you invites to to other Applications. Accept the ones you want and just "Ignore" the ones you don't.

Now you are a facebook. expert. Enjoy!!!
