Wii Motion Plus is utilized with the Wii Remote to enhance the overall game play experience when using the Nintendo Wii.  Wii Motion Plus only work with compatible video games, so if you do not have one to play, you do not need the add-on.  However, you can still play these games without Wii Motion Plus but you will lose added control without it.  Wii Sports Resort was the first game to use Wii Motion Plus as it was designed specifically for the different functions in the video game.  It adds much needed rotational support and a stronger connection between the Wiimote and sensor bad for more realistic control during game play.

First, you need to purchase Wii Motion Plus.  It should run about $20 and can be found at more electronic retailers and video game vendors.  Once purchased, you simply plug it into the bottom of your Wii Remote much like you would the Nunchuk, Classic Controller or other peripherals.  When it is secure, Wii Motion Plus is ready to use.  Keep in mind that unless you are playing a game equipped to use Wii Motion Plus, the peripheral will not make a difference in game play.  The Wii Motion Plus extension allows the sensor bar and Wii Remote to work together to capture more complicated movements, including rotating the Wiimote around.  This adds a higher level of response between the Wii, the game and the Wii Remote.

Wii Motion Plus is an excellent add-on for the Wii Remote, because it adds motion response that was not needed at the time of the Nintendo Wii's release.  As new games are developed that require more precise and complicated movements, a new Wii Remote design will be a must.  The Wii Motion Plus is a bridge to a new Wiimote and lets users take advantage of more movement control now as the games for it are developed instead of waiting for a whole new Wii Remote to be designed, released and bought.
