Is An Ad Sumitter Effective?

Some of the first advice I received when I started in this business was to never waste my money on automatic ad submitters. Generally speaking that is true if you follow all the rules and "don't think outside the box".

The first requirement is to have your own hosting account with a catch-all email account which is then forwarded to a gmail email account created just for that purpose. A catch-all email account will enable you to change your email address and also avoid thousands of emails from the free classified sites. My catch-all account is set to forward and to delete all messages opened or unopened every day.

Many of the free classified sites or directories will only accept a limited number of ads and your submitted ad will only stay at the top of their listings for a short period.

To work around that you have to make small adjustments to your ads before you re-submit. Small changes to name, address, phone number, user name, ad title, ad copy and change the email address to anything@yourdomainname.com. A catch-all address will accept all emails not specifically directed to another existing email account in your web hosting. Initially I copied and pasted from fake names and addresses which you can order free online. Now I make only small changes and can adjust a number of ads in a few minutes.

UPDATE

Lately I have been having good submission results to classifieds by changing the first names, name on email address and user name.  That won't work with many directories.

I just set the submitter going and let it run in the background. If you have broadband or DSL, the submitter I use works perfectly and I tend to have it running most of the time. A note of caution, don't try to use it with a satellite internet connection like HughNet as you will violate their fair access policy and lose most of your service for the day.

I get lots of traffic to my links and offers when I use an ad submitter consistently. Generally I edit my all my ads every three days and re-submit.

I can only speak to my experience with one ad submitter and it has a number of geographic packages so you can target your advertising. Visit The Best Submitter Online to check it out.

Not any that I have found, The free directory submitters aren't very good, few directories and they aren't updated for any changes.
