Orange shoes can be hard to incorporate into a wardrobe. Use these hints to work them into a classic look.

Classic Look for Day

We all know that the classics are timeless pieces, like cardigans, sweaters, even jeans have become a staple in most women's wardrobes. Adding orange shoes in a classic fashion is simple. Let's start with the actual shoes. The best way to find a shoe that won't wash-out your complexion is to hold your hand up to it. Go through different oranges, maybe a peach or even a dark, burnt orange. Bold oranges typically will have the best effect on people's skin tone. Decide if you want a strappy heel or if a plain-jane flat will work best for you. For the classic look, I would stick to not having too many frills to the shoe. Just a simple slip-on can be great.

Now let's move onto the pants. This is where it can get tricky. In the summer time consider pairing your orange shoes with white cropped linen or khaki pants, or a neutral color that end just above or below the knee. This stretch of leg is sophisticated and shows off your tanned skin nicely.

For a top, you have a few options. You could go with a sandy neutral color, or go opposite of your shoes either with a colored t-shirt, or with a cardigan over a plain t-shirt. If your shoes are a dark or bold orange, go with a light, barely orange wash on top, and go with a dark orange if your shoes are light.

For accessories, consider pulling your hair back into a simple ponytail, or even leaving it down in it's natural style.

Classic Look for Night

This is where orange shoes can get tricky, especially since you don't want to look like the poster-child for Halloween. If it has cooled down, wearing dark jeans is a timeless night look. Now's the time to add heel if you want it. Don't be afraid to go with bold orange shoes now, since after dark is the time when you can go to extremes. A simple top would be a white or black t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, or another cardigan. Incorporate orange into your jewelry by adding an orange necklace or earrings, just don't overdo it since you want to look classy. For hair, try pulling it into a ponytail or a low bun to the side with a hairband, possibly in orange. Viola! Perfect night outfit.

Just Remember

You are wearing orange shoes to draw attention to them. Don't over accessorize with too many orange pieces or you will not look as classy as you want to. Keeping your outfit neutral in white, black, or sand shades lets your shoes stand alone, and you will get many compliments on them. Also, with bright shoes that could be considered a "trend,"don't worry about buying high end. $30 shoes are as good as the rest of 'em since you probably won't wear bright orange shoes as often as black or brown ones.
