It's Not about the Numbers

Network Marketing Game
Network Marketing Game

If you’re looking to get in the Network Marketing Game, then you need to know the rules for success.

What is the Network Marketing Game?

I have heard too many times that network marketing is just a game of numbers (people). If you talk to enough numbers, great things will happen to your business. Everyone is a prospect (a number). You have to call or meet 10 new people everyday and set up 3 new meetings per day and convince 2 new people to come to the opportunity meeting…Wrong!

Why ‘should’ they join you? Are they even interested? Are they willing to make the commit for the long term? So – no matter how many people you talk to – if they are not interested people it will make no difference.

Networking marketing (MLM) is all about relationships not a numbers game. This is where I think a lot of hopeful network marketers get lost. Direct marketing is a numbers game. Direct marketers only sell directly to people. They have no interest in long-term relationships or business development. Examples of direct marketers are telemarketers, mail-order people, and door-to-door salesman. These people put their eye on the ‘money’ rather than the ‘networking’.

People join people – not businesses or numbers. What motivates people is something unique to each person. People join network marketing business because they want to, not because they ‘should’.

Your network marketing business will grow when you build and develop trusting relationships with others. You need to be a helpful solutions provider – not a pushy overbearing salesman. Your contacts and customers who like, know and trust you will become your best prospects.

People are not numbers and do not like to be treated as such. The ‘numbers’ network marketing game seems to teach network marketers to be recruiters rather than helpful, responsible sponsors. People want to join other people in business that they feel will help them. In return for your efforts of help and support, you are rewarded.

So, what’s the game? The real network marketing game is how many people you can help. The more people you provide real services to and the more people you provide helpful information to – the more people who will trust your opinion.

So stop all the recruit, recruit, sell, sell, close and call stuff and focus on building relationships.

I agree. Building relationships gives both parties a solid foundation and promotes Trust - which then has a positive knock on effect on other things. Thanks.
