This is a look at the rules of article writing and how to set the article out. It will show you how to get ideas and how to turn blogs and forums into articles.

1 Getting started

First of all you need to think about what you are interested in. It could be a hobby, a place you have been to, your family or your job. It has to be something you feel that you can talk to people about. Writing an article is very like talking to people.

When you think of something start making notes about it. Split it up into sections and then bulk out each section to 250-700 words. You now have your article. Write as you talk, in short sentences and paragraphs. Use simple language.

2 Title

This is important. If it catches the eye of the reader they will be interested in reading the rest of the article. Try to find something which will inform the reader exactly what the article is about. Do not make it too long.

3 Article Summary

A. speak to the reader.

B Lay out the benefits they will get by reading the article.

C Write 3-5 sentences. No more than 7.

D Do not repeat the title or the authors name.

E A real no, no is trying to self promote.

4 The Body of the Article.

I always find this easier if I break the article up and number each section. I feel it is easier for the reader to scan through. You can also write another article on each section if appropriate.

You will find a style that suits you . What ever way you choose make sure it is not too heavy going. Use a bit of humour if the subject allows.

5 Summing Up

Give a short, 1 or 2 paragraph round up of what your article has covered. Finally add a titbit that will lead your reader to the resource box and your website link.

6 Resource Box Components.

A Your name.

B Your website

C Your pitch. 1-2 sentences on what make you and your offer special.

D No more than 2 links.

7 Submission

Make sure that you preview and spell check your article before you submit it. It is your last chance to iron out any problems.

8 Finally, You can write more articles.

If you have any blogs or forum items your can look at them for subjects. Your blog can easily be added to to make an article. If you have written your article in sections, as I said before, you can use those sections. For example, if you have written about your seven favourite breeds of dog you can then write seven separate articles on those breeds.

You must always remember that your articles must be original. You must not copy anything from a website. You can use information from websites you have used as research but it must be your own words.

I hope this has given you the inspiration to write an article. Once you have had your first article published you will have the confidence to write more. If you are really good you could make a career of it and write for others.
