It is always important to make a good first impression when someone visites your web site. The heading you use is the first object that a visitor will focus on when your page loads. A really proffessional design can give your web page an impression of quality, a bad one will immediately give the impression you are 'cheap' or 'backyard'. If you are a Graphic artist then this won't be a problem for you. If not then you will need someone to design a header graphic for you and this can be expensive. XHeader is simple must have tool, especially if you aren't a Graphic artist. I use Inkscape (Freeware Open Source Vector Illustration program) to create most of my headers, but I am a Graphic Designer with over 30 years in the industry. XHeader gives you the option to create your own headers or use one of the 50 templates that come with the program.
There is a little nag screen that comes up when you first load the program inviting you to 500 more templates, all you have to do is follow the prompts and put in your name and email and they send you a link for another free download with the extra files.
There are no virus attachments or suspicious files, I run quite a few separate spy ware, virus programs and I always check attachments and .exe files before opening them. (You should too as a matter of course).

Run the downloaded file and then you can open up XHeader without the nag screen and you have an amazing 500 templates to choose from in 14 different categories. Once you load the template all you have to do is add text. You can change the font, font size and font color as well as adding some nice special effects.

When you are happy with the design you can then choose to save the file as a jpeg or another template. There are a range of jpeg quality settings showing you the file size and giving a preview of the quality.

This program is one of the best free programs I have used. It is fast to load, fast to use and quite simply saves hours of design time. The results will add a really professional look to your web sites.
