good that there is so much awareness about diabetes
who gets it and who doesnt?
there are postulates and hypothesis which is purely analytical
does anyone who eats sweets and has a sweettooth get it - oh no
doesn anyone who doesnt mouth sweets have a chance of avoiding it - oh no
clearly confusing issue na ? well well well

diabetes has nothing to do with intake of sweets and sugar.until it sets in after it sets in taking sugar and sweets creates harm.
prevention lies in being close to nature.eat in time,exercise regularly,avoid sedentary work,avoid stress ,no fasting and feasting,hydrate well,titrate food.
food is the drug regulate food ,regular exercise, eat in time, sleep well avoid diabetes.
there is a genetic link but the allele penetrance is not proven. which means while diabetes is associated with either of the parents having diabetes it is not a cause of diabetes.
go along with nature. no canned foods, no artificial beverages,no sweets,no chips, no late nights and most important NO TV.
if you cant exercise just dance for an hour.exercise brings down sugar level than three drugs combined together
what happens in diabetes is -the ability of sugar to be coverted and stored in other forms- is lost.so there is excess sugar in the blood.
not taken up by the tissues.
there are two causes-reduced insulin secretion and reduced insulin sensitisation.
if exercise is done regulalry sensitisation happens.
so have a cheerful attitude, buy a decent pair of tracks and running shoes
or if all these fails try and get a dance partner.

Lots of good common sense here, something that seems to be in short supply. I have to laugh at some of my friends who go to health clubs to exercise and then their house is a pig pen. You can get plenty of exercise just cleaning your house. You kill two birds with one stone and it's free!
