Avoid the stress of Christmas
Don’t you just hate all the things you have to do before Christmas? You rush about for weeks cleaning up your home, washing all the bed linen and curtains. Spend hours doing all the cooking and stress out before the day.
And let’s face it who really cares or looks at how your home appears. We put ourselves through so much stress, for what?
It’s just the presents that everyone or the kids especially care about these days anyway isn’t it?
Then of course the food and drinks would be next on the list of importance I believe.
So why do we do it?

No stress Christmas
This year I did all the things I normally did in my home:
- Washed all the bed linen
- Made sure every thing was clean and tidy
- Washed the floors
- Prepared all the food
- Bought the nuts and nibbles
- Made and bought the xmas drinks (home brew beer)
- And it didn’t cost us a fortune for Christmas decorations
So what is different to all the other years I hear you ask?
Simple, we packed up and left our home for life in a caravan, traveling around Australia for twelve months. We should have done this much sooner. Now I can do my housework in a matter of a couple of hours.
The Benefits
We have milliondollar views - that dont cost us a million dollars
Breathe Fresh air and have new scenery when we tire of the place we are at or when we dont like our neighbours.
We keep out of trouble because we are away and there are no family arguments if there are we don’t know about them.
My one regret is: Yes, we do miss the family and my grand kids of course. But there is always next year I suppose. So now you know how to avoid the Stress of Christmas.
We hope you all have a safe and Happy Christmas and have a great start to the New Year ahead. Enjoy your life. Wake up in the morning and feel blessed that you woke up at all.
If you have a caravan this Christmas then here are a few little things I learned after my travels

lissie, yes caravan park same here in Bright vic. very quiet. They said all booked out from boxing day. And we have to move on boxing day as not allowed any dogs from then on and then price goes up to $40 a night. Really looking to find some house sitting somewhere soon that would help out, plus the free parking camp sites they are a great help Have a great christmas and new year.
Where are u heading to now. cheers not tooo many drinkies though
Merry Christmas Eileen and hugs from G ma.
topstuff
thanks and merry xmas and keep safe to you too.
Merry Christmas and Happy Other Holidays to All! Eileen, I am not the caravan type. I must confess that some of the pressure to clean "extra" for Christmas is good for me ---(true confessions) - because if I don't normally see dirt, I don't go looking for it. Special occassions make me do the deeper cleaning to keep the house healthy. Hmmmm....am I sounding like an article for a 1950's issue of Good Housekeeping? I'm not trying to! I'm just saying that I am a casual cleaner and every so often it is a healthy thing to do a wee bit more...lol
maren, we are alike in that respect. I am a lazy housekeeper and do what has to be done. After all i love it as a home to becomfortable in not like a house where u have to take your shoes off outside.
Thanks for stopping by
Cousins of mine had a fifth wheel - caravan to you - that I could've happily lived in year round. Had a queen-size bed, full-size sofa, a bathroom bigger than any I'd ever seen in a "camper", a kitchen one could actually cook in, with a full-size freezer (for the side of beef they refused to leave behind when they went on the road), and a wine rack. Other than her grand piano, it had *all* the comforts of their house back in Peoria.
Eileen, what a great hub on avoiding the stress of the holidays, and also a peek into life as a gypsy!
No, No.
I do not like the driving and certainly do not like caravans.
Nearly bought a huge one at 30, Val said no, so no go.
As comment on Fish Markets Our one was open for 36 hours.
The total tonnage sold was enormous. I can not remember the amount
except it was mind boggling.
Have a fantastic 2009.
Frank and Val
Happy holidays, Eileen. :) Nice to know you don't have holiday stress this year. Holidays are usually stressful for other people because of the preparation.
Well Eileen, I never saw this one coming! LOL. **Loved** this! Great hub(s).
Linda, yes thats my sense of humour. As my husband says I dont spend much time cleaning the van either...tut tut. Oh well cant all be perfect eh

Nice one Eileen - we arrived in Ceduna Christmas EVe - had to go shopping because of the quaratine at the border but took about an hour to find the fish factory and the supermarket - Christmas is sorted - and the place is empty - no tourists!
