Simple Ways to go Green, and feel great

With so many ways to go green and so many products and organic items out there, Where does the average person who wants to go Eco-Friendly start?

Well, it's pretty simple, and here are some simple ways you can do it without making major changes to your routine. Not only will they help the Earth, they will actually save you some green $ and you'll feel great doing it!

1. Eat healthier, and get your groceries cheaper! Sound too good to be true, well it was until recently. Most states and big cities, even NYC, where I'm from- now have fresh produce and fish and meat markets where you can skip the fancy supermarket and the pricier packaging that's depleting the Earth. Check out LocalHarvest.org where you can find your nearest markets, shop online, and get more info on being green and Eco-Friendly.

2. Support your local farmers, just like the hint above, scope out your community for local farmers and their retailers. Not only will your food be fresher and free of radicals- you'll also help the economy and the Earth by support local growers rather than big chain producers overseas or far away!

3. Don't forget to BYOB!!! Bring your own Bag that is... Most other countries around the world have already stopped using plastic bags so it's about time we got the clue. You can look great doing this too as many places now make organic totes you can strut your stuff around in. I don't just use these bags for groceries though, you can carry them to the gym and shopping too!

4. Want to lessen your energy intake and save some more green? Well join the club. A lot of people are switching to CFL bulbs, which save energy and money. Here's a great site where you can get these nifty bulbs in all sizes and shapes~ www.bulbs.com

Another way to save some green and be greener is to unplug those appliances you don't use often. Like what about those fancy lamps that you never turn on, or that TV in the guest room or the basement? This will help them from draining your wallet and saving energy.

5. Check out Eartheasy.com and Clorax's Green Works line for tips on how to make your own easy home cleaning products or buy green from manufactures.. Eco and Wallet friendly ideas and products to keep your home and space clean and green!

6. You are what you eat! Just like you'll be supporting your local produce and farmers, support restaurants and bars that serve in organic and environmentally friendly ways! Go to www.dinegreen.com for more info and tips for eating and being green!

7. Go PAPERLESS! This is very easy and will save hundreds of trees a year. There's two ways to do it: First do all of your banking and bills online, not only is this eco-friendly but it's safer because noone can get their hands on your mail since your statements and banking information is being sent to your inbox.

Second, sign up with www.greendimes.com to stop that pesky junk mail that is filling up your mail box. Most of this mail comes from advertisers and marketing agencies so you can stop being harrassed at the expense of the Earth! They will even plant trees for you for signing up and it's free! Can't get greener than that.

8. Finally don't forget to Be Beautiful! Check out on my other hubs on organic beauty, products, and ways to look gorgeous and green.

Good tips! These simple little things can make a big difference when many people jump on board and start doing them. And a lot of the simple things you can do to go green are just a matter of changing a habit - like bringing your own bag. Backpacks work great as well - as long as you don't stuff them full with your own stuff to start with ;-)

Thanks for the link to Eartheasy.com - it's new to me so I'm checking it out now. I'm really into making my own cleaning products, so far they have been better than commercial products and they are soooo much cheaper! It's like that with a lot of the green alternatives actually. The energy saver light bulbs work out much cheaper over the long run as well.
