To save your family memories, everyone needs to have a digital camera. There are so many choices on the market now it is very hard to pick the right camera . You need to narrow down
the search by deciding what options are most important to you. You must decide what
you want to be able to do with the camera.
The largest group and the hardest group to choose from are the general pocket cameras for family shots, vacation shots and everyday snapshots.

Rate importance of features

If you are looking for a camera over $500, you most likely know what you want it to do and the things you need, and the brand that you want. This article is for the under $500 market.
Make a list of these options and rate them 1-5, 5 being most important to you, 1 being
least important. Price, Family shots, Landscapes, Do you want a wide angle lens, and a long zoom.
Portraits - Most normal zooms can take good portraits.
Wildlife - Need a long zoom to get good wildlife shots.
Battery type - Can use AA rechargeable or proprietary camera batteries.
Memory type - Most now use SD cards.
Zoom Distance - For general shooting a 3-6X is ok. For landscapes you want the lover
number to be in the 28mm or lower.
Image stabilization - I think this is a must for point and shoot cameras.
Brand - If you prefer a certain brand rate this high.

Narrow the choice down

Now go to one of the large camera websites like bhphotovideo.com and look at the cameras. Make a list of all the ones that are in your price range. Stick to the main brands.Go through your list and see what options they have. Narrow the search down to 4 or 5 that have what you want. Go to your favorite search engine and type in camera reviews. Go to the review sites
and look at the cameras that are left in your list. Make sure you check the user reviews
also, the customers that are actually using the camera and see how they like it.

making the final decision

Once you have it down to 2 or 3, go to the store and see how they feel, and if they are the right size you need. Play with the controls and see if they are easy to use. Pick the one that you want. The more expensive the camera, the more you can save online. So buy it at the store or online depending on if you need it now or if the price is right. Don’t forget to check the size when you are at the store. This is one of the big reasons to go and physically see the camera. I have a Canon powershot sd model, that I got because it is a great camera, but also because it is small enough to fit in a case that I carry with me all the time. I have 10 other cameras for various things, but I always have the canon with me. This camera will not do many things that I sometimes want a camera to do, but it will always take pictures and I have it with me.

I think the worst thing you can do is to go out and just buy a camera because it looks
cool, or it’s a nice color. There are so many choices out there, the chances of getting a
camera that is not right for you is very good. Take a couple of hours and do the research
to find the right camera, in the long run it will be time well spent.
