How to catch Feebas and Milotic
73Feebas is one of the hardest to catch Pokemon in the entire series, especially for ones that aren't one-of-a-kind or event-only. Feebas is just a regular Pokemon; you catch in in the wild, and there's certainly more than one. The catch is, Feebas is only catchable in six squares of water in the entire game. Here's what you'll need in order to catch the elusive Pokemon Feebas.
Out of game:
- A Gameboy Advance or DS.
- Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald.
In game:
- Any fishing rod. (I prefer the Old Rod)
- A Pokemon that knows Surf.
- The ability to Surf.
- Some Ultraballs.
Obtaining Feebas
Catching Feebas has to be one of the most irritating objectives in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. The good news is that there's a method you can use to cut down on the time it takes to find him.
Feebas appears in six of the ~400 squares of water Route 119 as mentioned before. The way to find Feebas is as follows:
- Start at the top left and work your way to the right.
- Once you've hit the right, go down a row and work to the left.
- Repeat.
- For each new square you encounter, you'll want to catch a fish five times with your Old Rod. (The reason I recommend the Old Rod is because you'll only catch two pokemon: Magikarp and Feebas. The reason I recommend five times is because Feebas has an encounter rate of 60%-80%.)
- Once you've found Feebas, that's it. Whittle its HP down and capture!
A word of warning: Whenever you change the 'Popular Phrase' in Dewford town, those six random squares change.

Evolving Feebas into Milotic
Getting Milotic is a whole other issue. Milotic does not appear in the wild, and must be evolved from Feedbas in a rather unique way. To make Feebas evolve into Milotic, you'll need to raise its Beauty stat to 170. This can prove to be quite a challenge, since each Pokemon will eat only 12 Pokeblocks before it refuses to eat anymore!
- The first step in changing your Feebas into a Milotic is to check its personality in its status screen. If it's Adamant, Careful, or Impish, don't even try bothering to evolve it, as it'll just reject the Pokeblocks that would normally raise its Beauty stat. You'll need to catch another.
- Next, you'll need to make a number of high-level DRY blocks--the purple and blue ones. These raise the Beauty stat.
- You'll want to choose berries for making blocks from this list:
Wiki, Kelpsy, Hondew, Cornn, and Pamtre, the latter being the most recommended.
- Finally, after making these Pokeblocks, feed them to your Feebas. Ones made out of Pamtre berries will take far fewer to raise its Beauty stat than will Wiki, Kelpsy, Hondew, and Cornn.
A video detailing where to obtain Pamtre berries, the creation of Pokeblocks, and evolution of Feebas.
