Are you looking for a laptop that everyone in the family can use? Personally, I think that everyone should have one so that nobody is fighting with each other for the computer. I know laptops can be on the pricer side, but they are well worth it. I myself am writing this on my laptop.  Some people may say that laptops are not as powerful as their desktop counterparts, it is not true.

The Pros

  • Can take your laptop anywhere you want.  I've been known to go back and forth between bed and desk.  You can sit anywhere in the house and be comfortable.

Cons

  • Can be easily stolen
  • Hard to upgrade. Most of the time you would have to send it in for repairs. Mostly, the only thing that you will be able to upgrade is your memory and maybe hard drive.

Popular Myths About Laptops

There are people whom say that they are not as powerful as the desktops and that is not true. I have a very powerful Toshiba laptop that can run most programs out there on the market very well.

What You Need To Know Before Buying

You need to know what everyone is going to use the computer for. Are you going to be using it for games, surfing the net and so on. Once you have that information, then you can then go on and do your research on what you want on a computer.

Types Of Laptops

There are different types of laptops

  • Gaming
  • Standard
  • Desktop replacement.

A desktop replacement is what I will suggest to anyone whom is looking to use it as a family pc.

Some Areas You Need To Look At

Remember me mentioning earlier about knowing what you are going to be using the computer for. This is important for when you choose the specs out for your new laptop. You want to have a computer that meets your needs but you also need to look to the future as technology keeps changing and you want something that is going to meet those specs if you can.

If you are going to be using your computer for gaming and graphics, you need a computer that has a decent amount of ram which is memory.

Anywhere here are the things that you want to look at when you buy a computer

  • memory
  • cpu
  • hard drive
  • screen size
  • OS

Surfing the internet, you don't need a lot, but like I said you need to look to the future because if you don't your computer won't work so well when it comes to upgrades.

For me, more is better.
