69Binocular features
Hunting or birding whatever may be the name of the activity that you are going to do the best thing that you need to understand is each and everything that is listed in the specification of these binoculars.
Let us understand each and everything that is listed specification of the binocular.
Magnification and the equation
Most of the binoculars would be specifying what is the magnification of the binoculars as part of the equation that is given as 8x42 or 10x50. The left side of the equation is the power of the binoculars or the magnification of the binoculars. This tells me how many times the object will be appear closer to you. If you are buying a binocular for the first time then I would suggest that you should visit a binocular store and see for yourself the difference in the power and the way the object appears in each magnification.
In general the more the power the more better the binoculars is not a rule to be applied as higher power can make the objects appear a bit hazy. The higher power means smaller field of view and lower power means larger field of view. If you are using the binoculars for viewing the landscape then use the lower power binoculars.
Objective lens of the Binoculars.
The larger the objective lens of the diameter the greater is the light which will com into the binoculars making sure that objects that you see are sharper and brighter. The diameter is the second part of the equation and that is what you will read into is you see the equation as 10x50. 50mm is the diameter of the objective lens.
The bigger the diameter the better the image. That means that you can easily go into more and bigger diameter binoculars but then binoculars become heavier and you may not be carry them around your neck using the neck strap. Bigger lens are better for hunting as you may be using it for a lot of activities that are going to happen in the near dark time frames which the dusk and the dawn.
That is why the hunting binoculars are always within the optimum size of 8x42 as that will mean average power for an optimum field of view as well as not very heavy binoculars as the lens diameter is 42mm.

Binocular design
Roof prism binoculars vs. the porro prism binoculars? This question has been asked so many times and I believe that the best way to answer is that there is no difference in the performance of the either binocular. The roof prism binoculars are better looking and expensive whereas porro prism ones are old style and less expensive.
Filed of view
This is the expanse of the view that you will be able to see when you look through the binoculars form a distance of 100 yards. A simple guideline for this is that when you are hunting then you a smaller field of view whereas when you are birding you a bigger area to cover.
Eyecups
If you wear eyeglasses then you will need to wear them when you are hunting and that will mean that you need to have binoculars that have retracting or rolling up eyecups. That way it is easy for you to see through the eye piece.
Lens coatings
You will keep hearing about FC, MC lenses. The coating increases the light intake of the lenses and hence the objects appear brighter. That said these lenses when they are coated can be very expensive.
Durability
Last but not the least chooses binoculars which are known to be durable. Now durability can be different for different people. If you are going to use the binoculars for kayaking and hiking you will probably need binoculars which are waterproof as well as they have the best of best body which means rugged exteriors so that they are not easily damaged. If you are looking for binoculars for sporting events then you may choose more stylish binoculars.
