There are around 2,000,000 to 5,000,000 SHU in other pepper sprays.

States where Pepper Sprays are restricted

• New York: New York residents may only purchase defense sprays 

  from licensed firearms dealers or licensed pharmacists in that 

  state.

• Massachusetts: Massachusetts residents may only purchase 

  defense sprays from licensed firearms dealers in that state.

• Michigan: OC Pepper spray can be no stronger then a 2% concentrate 

  Different companies can sell different concentrations.) CS is 

  the only Tear Gas accepted and can be no larger then 35 grams 

  per can. No combination spray allowed.

• Wisconsin: Pepper only. No Tear gas, UV Dye or combination sprays. 

  OC can be no stronger then a 10% solution. Can must be between 

  15-60 grams only. Must have safety feature.

If your state is not listed above then it is legal to buy a pepper 

spray for your protection. If you are a Michigan or Wisconsin 

them follow the instructions mentioned above and buy the one 

which your state law permits. Everyone has their own level of 

comfort in choosing what type of pepper spray whether a fountain 

pen or key ring kind so read what each type of pepper spray 

and what it can offer and choose the one which suits your ease

of use and the level of protection you are looking for.
