How to clean smudge marks off the walls
76Cleaning Marks on walls
I have 2 children so you could imagine what kinds of marks I have had to get off walls. I used to use a sponge or a cloth with glass cleaner, But the problem I had with this methode of taking smudges off walls was that sometimes the paint would wash off too. I did some reasearch and some asking around about the best ways to get smudges off the walls and here are some of the ways people take smudges off their walls.
1) If it is tile use a sponge and viniger water
2) If it is wood use Pledge and a cloth
3) If it is wall paper use just simple water with soap and a dry cloth do not let it stand too long because it will peel the wall paper.
4) If you have walls like drywall and they are painted you should buy the mr clean magic eraser because it woks great, All you need is to get it wet and ring it out and rub the smudge on the wall and it will clean it safely with out wipping the paint off the wall. You do not need to scrub all that hard. This product works on all kinds of surfaces too.

A pencil eraser will also work wonders. They will remove marks from many different things. Of course, care must be taken when used on painted walls.
yes they work but they take paint off the walls the magic eraser is better for painted walls.
Okay, so I used the magic eraser on my flat painted walls and it left a dark spot-almost looks like a wet spot (after it's dried). Any suggestions?
do you know what type of paint was used on the walls?? I have never had that happen before. But than again sometimes things are not perfict. If it was an oil based paint it may do that but if it is just water based or latex based paint that should not have happend unless the walls have just been painted 24 hours before you used the magic eraser. If non of these apply to your situation I would call the toll free number on the box and let them know what happend.
I am 16 art student, and my mom gave me the okay to draw on my walls.I had left over pencil marks on my wall that I did not know how to remove, and the magic eraser idea is so smart and really works well.
Thanks!
i have read other web sites and am worried, i have marks on my walls and put up, wall clingings that were "HARM LESS" but when i pulled them off my daughters wall the letters were still there and in COLOR!!! red and green! almost every web site said to use the eraser BUT not on flat painted wall's but no other sugg. i just bought this house it breaks my heart anyone have any advice?
magic eraser did not work on the marks, only the small smudges and finger prints. All it did was take my paint off
Magic Erase does not work on flat painted walls. It leaves a greasy looking mark. If the paint on the wall has a sheen (eggshell, semi or high gloss), it works well. And yes if the paint is flat, it does take off paint as well.
