Tips on how to clean your house fast!
I am person that has struggled with organization and cleanliness for years. Overtime I began to become proactive helping to keep a clean and orderly house. A good rule is to do it now. Why wait until the house is a disaster? If you do a little over the week, then is not such a chore. Instead of putting your dishes in the sink put them in the dishwasher. How much further is the dishwasher then the sink? Not much further in the houses I've seen.
Keeping up with a house is a hard job, especially when there are children involved. Make sure they help you with the cleaning. No matter what you do to get your kids, or husband, or roommate motivated, you should not be the only one cleaning. Children are old enough to do something even if it's only picking up their own toys. You can make it a game.
Be prepared for little interruptions during the day. It would be great if you were able to get everything done during the course of a day and not be disrupted, but that's not logical. Plan ahead for these occurrences. Everyone has an idea of what they need from you for the day. Don't be so inflexible that you can't make time for other things in your life.
Don't freak out if there's a little clutter. It never killed anyone. It's frustrating when you've spent hours of your day chasing down messes, then walk into a room and find 12 more. This is okay.
A good rule I learned was to never leave a room empty handed, it's a waste. When you want to leave a think to yourself 'is there anything I can take with me to put away on the way?" Soon you'll be doing this automatically.
Remember to always remain light-hearted, even when the work piles up. Also make sure to lock cleaners and other chemical out of children's reach.

Amanda, very nice. I also wish I had a closet like that. Now if I can only convince my wife that less clutter does *not* mean more room for new clothes! :-)
Good Article, you know I read an article in University that stated that a person who is disorganized is actually very neat and sensitive. Meaning they hold on to every little thing and won't put it away until they've been able to organize it meticulously, which, of course, never happens because there is no time. That's me, my better half is not, so it' works out great. He does all the clutter pick up in no time flat and I do the more tedious thorough jobs which can sometimes take me a week.
Great hub w/great suggestions. I am unusually organized at work while being the polar opposite at home. Drives my hubby crazy. Some things that have helped me speed up my cleaning are those wood and surface wipes and dusters. Saves alot of time when you don't have to spray and then wipe. You carry around alot less as well. Hey - every little bit can help the busy woman.
Thanks for the comments everyone!

Ah, I would love to have a closet look like that! =) I make sure my home is tidy and the dishwasher is running before I go to bed. It just makes the mornings that much easier! Thanks for the good read.
