Making videos that will play on your Mobile Phone or mobile MP4 is a bit of an art especially if you wish to keep the file size down. The program I use to do this is a Free program called Any Video Converter and can be downloaded from the Authors Web Site.

Once you have downloaded the program and installed it file conversion is simple and smooth and with a bit of fine tuning I will show you how to get the best quality video at the smallest file sizes. Typically an entire average movie shrinks down to around 100meg, which means you can store lots of them on even a small memory card.

The first step (after you fire up the program) is to press the Add Video button. If you place a DVD in your DVD player you can scroll through and add the VOB files. Make sure you choose the ones with the main video, they are typically around 1.4gig in size and there are usually 3 around this size and a fourth around 500meg. This can vary depending on the length of the video. You may also import other files types such as DivX and Xvid or Mpeg1 or Mpeg2, the program supports a wide variety of file types that can be converted.

After adding them you will see the files lined up ready to be converted. Make sure they are in the right order, the VOB files are numbered for instance 1 to 4. If they are not in the right order you can rearrange them by dragging and dropping.

The next setting which is very important is to merge the files to create one finished file after conversion. You do this by highlighting all the files selected for conversion and Choose Edit > Merge Output from the main menu.

Next we will choose the Profile on the right top of the menu. Choose the profile called Mobile Phone MPEG-4 and then move down tp the Setiings options. Change the settings to those that I have provided in the Image at the start of this article and then press the Convert button to convert your video. If you look under Edit > Options you can choose the location where you wish the files to be saved. The program automatically creates a folder called Mobile MP4.

These files look excellent and the movie plays well with very good sound quality and yet we have shrunk a whole movie to 100meg.
