Antacids are one of the biggest selling over the counter medications in the world, but so many people experience unwanted side effects when taking them, below are a few suggestions to help you get rid of heartburn and indigestion in a more natural way:
Ginger:
This little miracle root is said to have some seriously amazing properties, it can cure indigestion, heartburn, trapped wind, water retention, nausea and it also has anti inflammatory properties. In fact in the correct dosage, studies have shown that ginger root is sad to have a greater effect than ibuprofen!
Peel some fresh ginger root, eat 1 small slice (about 1 ½ to 2 inches) eat this before the meal and one small slice afterwards. Ginger tea is also said to help but I have always found that ginger root eaten directly is much more effective.
Bicarbonate of soda.
Another miracle product, this can be used for a whole variety of things, simply put about a quarter of a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into a glass of warm water and sip slowly. It provide immediate relief from heartburn and quick relief from indigestion. It works by neutralising the acid in the stomach offering fast relief.
Hot water:
Sounds simple enough, but it is the cheapest way to get rid of heartburn and indigestion, simply sip hot water (that has been boiled) You will feel a slight twinge, but the pain will soon go away as will the indigestion and heartburn.
Liquorice:
Eat a small amount of liquorice root before and after meals, this helps to inhibit the acid production in your stomach.
