Origami plays a very important role in science today, especially in the field of physics and aerodynamics. Did you know that there is no difference between the flight principles of real planes and paper planes?

There is an annual world competition in Japan, where students come from all over the world to see whose origami plane can stay the longest in air. The goal of the competition is to promote science (physics and aerodynamics) to young children through the use origami paper plane folding. This reminds me of the when I used to fold paper planes as a toddler, unaware of the fact that I was already doing origami at an early age.

The longest flying time for a paper plane is currently a staggering 22.48 seconds. Very impressive!

The two most famous paper airplane styles are the Sky King and Heso-Plane with the Sky King model being able to stay the longest in air. Don't panic. This is probably not something that you will start out with as a beginner. I wanted to make you aware what you can do with origami.
