Lets first discuss what a screen writer does for a living. Freelance Screenwriters write scripts for television, film, some even write scripts for video games. Scripts written on assignment are screenplays created under contract with a studio, production company, or individual, according to wikipedia, Spec scripts are feature film or television show scripts written on speculation, without the commission of a studio, production company, or network. It has been reported that rewriting and script doctoring is something that many established freelance writers as well as new writers whose work shows promise but lacks marketability, make their living rewriting scripts.
