How to Find a Sign Spinning Job
70First of all, this job is not for everyone and I wouldn't recommend you getting involved unless you fully understood the many pros and cons of sign spinning. But if you have the right personality and the right attitude, then making $2000+ a month working full time should be expected. Of course, if you want to make $2000 a month working just part time, then that's very possible. It just takes more skill and some sort of entertainment qualitly that sets you apart from the competition.
Top 5 ways to find a sign job
1) Get in contact with a company that provides sign spinners to their clients (in the world of business you would call them the middle-men). Companies like:
All these companies provide the same service to their customers and compensate you from $10-$20/hour. To get in contact with these companies (and many others) just stop and ask a sign spinner in your neighborhood for his/her manager's number.
2) The next best alternative is to look for job openings in local or online classified ads. I would recommend using Craigslist and Myspace Jobs. Both offer a decent amount of search results as long as you use the keywords "sign spinner" and "human directional".
3) When you have more experience, try offering demos to compete for a current or new position. I recommend competing for a current position since the sign is already provided and it's already an integral portion of their marketing strategy. Also, you don't have to deal with the trouble of convincing them that marketing with sign spinners could possibly help thier business in more ways than one (new blog soon to expand on this subject).
4) Another great way is to post an online resume of yourself with your picture, qualifications, and availability. Also make sure you include a video of yourself preforming on the corner (not your backyard). I recommend using Youtube for this since it's so popular and it doesn't have to be long. It just has to give them a pretty good idea of what to expect and how much they should pay you per hour. After doing this, you can send your resume to any potential employer and you could even post your own ads linking to your resume using the services section of Craigslist.
5) The fifth and final way is something that happens all by itself if you're a good sign spinner. Since you get such huge exposure to traffic and people see you on a daily basis, some will actually stop by and offer you a different sign job. In some cases, they will offer you an entirly different position. But if you do decide to leave, then make sure you know what you're leaving behind and be sure to give a notice to your current employer. It helps build good references and you never know when those might come in handy.

i worked for HD when they bought out Action Advertising, HD really screwed me over. I also worked for AArrow a couple times. They were cool but didn't have enuff buissness in my area, and expected me to go to the 2-3 hour practices unpaid in order to get any paid spots.so now i Free lance it and am about to persue my own Spinner company. P.S. you don't need waits to move like the pros. just patiance
Aaron, I have a policy of learning something new everyday. Well mate today you have made my day. I have never seen anything like this in Australia. Is it for real or is it a joke. C'mon you can let me in on it. lol
Yeah sure hairy, I'll let you in on it... lol It's actually a fairly new concept for advertising and none of which you would find anywhere near Australia. But hey if you ever come to visit the U.S. then you should definitely check out San Diego, CA. They have some very talented spinners over there. Check out some you tube video's for "sign spinning" if you'd like to see it all in action.
This is an interesting income generating opportunity and something I never new exixted! Thanks for sharing!
Naturally I have seen people on the side of the road holding signs advertising all sorts of businesses, but I have never seen a sign spinner. Was not even sure what you meant...so read your hub. Hint.......include a youtube video in your hub! I actually went there to see what you meant.
Would be an athletic way to make money. Am sure they do not have to go to a gym to work out afterwards! LOL
Very cool, unique! Thanks for sharing!!
http://www.signdancer.com/ has videos, new and job postings for sign dancers and spinners.
Checkin myspace and craigslist are probably the best ways to find sign spinning jobs like you said
