Buying a domain name and

Finding available domain names

Selecting an appropriate domain name is the first key to success in the internet marketing and online publishing world.

All of the major search engines weigh keywords in domain names rather heavily in search engine placement. Selecting a cute or awkward domain name may result in your sites fighting an uphill battle from day one.

When using your brand name or personal name in domain selection it is usually not to difficult find an exact match or a reasonable approximation of one.

But, one should keep in mind the keyword research techniques they have learned while writing at HubPages (What you dont write at Hubpages, better join now!) or taking part in online training courses like the Thirty Day Challenge or The Keyword Academy,.

Although, The Clean Team, may be a great brandable name for your housecleaning business in Queens - a little keyword research shows that Queens House Cleaning - is searched for 2,000 times a month, how great would it be to have your site appear on top for that search since you were the only one wise enough to optimize for it?

That example is specific to a business site, but for any niche site you create or any keyword string you find profitable a domain can be cheaply purchased, 7.49 is not much of a gamble, especially when you can make up that cost in one click or sale!

Keyword rich domains are usually scooped up by brokers, who resell the domains at a premium price, there are benefits to this situation, as an aged domain is also given higher prominence in search engine results. Many services exist to allow you to find available domain names, premium domain names and recently expired domains.

Find available domain names with the GoDaddy search engine

7.49 is the best price I have found on the net, as an affiliate I can promote literally hundreds of registrars- I still use GoDaddy personally and promote it when relevant.

7.49 Coupon for Domain Purchase: Unlimited Domains

The Free extras the picture refers to is a hosting account with full editability but the unfortunate inclusion of a banner ad, that is an ok route for testing a new site or an income only niche or landing page, Wordpress.com and HubPages both place banner ads are your work also- they just are not visible to you while you are logged in.

If you are international and you are interested in an .uk or .eu , than 123-reg, is the best deal that I am aware of, in addition to offering domains for only 2.99, if you purchase $30 in products, they give you a $20 adwords voucher, as a frequent adwords user I count these vouchers at cash value and love the concept of getting 80% off my order

Register your .eu domains with 123-reg , the UK's No 1 for domain names.

Caution when searching for available domain names

When I have selected a domain I would like to purchase, my first test is always on google, not only do you want to analyze your competition, you also want to make sure that domain is free.

Many of the registar searches use a nasty trick of placing a hold or an increased price on a domain if you search for it and than do not buy it in the first session. It seems there software flags the interest and raises the price due to the obvious demand.

Also be sure to uncheck all the extras that are included by default in the order forms, the 7.49 discount shows up in the final order form.

Other Sources for available domain names

I dont really want to share how often I find amazing deals on great domains via eBay. Many people us their reseller accounts or bulk order discounts to buy hundreds of domains and than attempt to profit off of quick resale on eBay, most use GoDaddy because of their free transfer policy.

I have alerts set to notify me whenever key terms that match my niche come up for sale, I have purchased dozens of domains for under 3.00USD that have returned that investment in the first day of going live.

Finding expired domains

One amazingly profitable trick in domain purchasing is scooping up recently expired domains, if done right one can find domains that are already receiving traffic and have existing backlinks, also very short and keyword rich domains can be purchased when webmasters dont stay on top of their portfolios.

I have been offered extravagant amounts of money for domains that I unknowingly purchased out of mistake by the original owners.

I use an expired domain service to keep watch on certain terms and niches that interest me.

Great tips here, Sunforged. Thanks for your help with my forum question. I went ahead and purchased several more domains, and godaddy does make it easy and cheap.
