As lost as we may be without it, the television it seems, can do no wrong, it keeps us up to date with all the latest news, sport, fashion , music .It entertains us with those daily soap operas dramas and comedies. As useful as all these can be when you need a quick escape from reality, we don't notice just what the TV does, it may have us on the edge of our seats but what we fail to see is that it puts us out of touch with the people around us, our family. Sure we can discuss the latest news, but is that real communication?

With the TV, came the TV dinner replacing the traditional family sit down dinner, the valuable time when everyone in the family is actually in the same room thoughts were exchanges and ideas shared, we communicated.

Today poor communication accounts for almost 98% of failed relationships and marriages. The false sense of beauty in the media does not help bridge this communication gap.

We are consumed by the appearance of outward beauty that we no longer have any conception of the true meaning of beauty.

Bombarded on TV screens world over we are swept into the 'Stepford wife' image which is an unreasonable expectation for your husband to want and for you for to live up to. Don’t even try; you are not superhuman, besides there are no takes or cuts in the drama of real life.

TUBE PLAN OF ACTION

HERES HOW TO KEEP THE TUBE FROM CONTROLLING YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Rule #1 No more TV dinners

If your favourite TV show is on during your usual dinner time, then record it or catch a re-run but don't skip a sit down dinner.Use this as your 'us' time, to reconnect after a busy day, discuss any personal experiences in the day, express how you feel.

Rule#2 Limit your viewing hours.

When it comes to soap opera's you could miss an entire month and you miss nothing, if anything it gets more interesting to see who's killed who to inherits who's fortune to date who.Instead of sitting through daily 45 minute runs of soap opera, why not skip a few days and go for a run, give your mind and body a break and prevent your own life from turning into a drama. If you can't bear to miss an episode then why not get a ball.An exercise ball is a great way to burn calories while sitting in front of the television, or get a pair of dub bells and get curling.

Rule#3 Try to Keep the TV out of the Bedroom

This may be difficult but do try.If you can't bear losing your tube then try putting it into a TV cabinet to help curb your viewing hours.Use the valuable time before you get to sleep for more communication time with your partner. In case you had to deal with kids issues over dinner, now you have a chance to share each other's day.Remember don't leave things unsaid, start each new day on a fresh note.

Don't let poor communication ruin your happiness.

When you were a little girl, did you used to keep one of those photo-montage / collage albumy-thingies? Would dig to hear some heart stuff too, but all these hubs are interesting, so I'm gonna join your club and see what happens. you seem sincere. Rock on.
