Social Networking
65... and it's benefits
As a former member of The Twisted Sisterhood (an online community for women) which has since shut down, I have seen personal benefits and synergies from their many features. TTS was THE starting point for me. From those all important connections, and with the overwhelming support of my “sisters” there, I decided to start my own home-based business. With the help of my “sisters” the benefits of social networking, at TTS and the opportunities that TTS opened up for me in regards to expanding my network connections. TTS exemplified “sisterhood” which was an added advantage over some other social networks. My connections there were instrumental in providing me with useful information on who to connect with, how to and where.
There are many social networks available out there, as long as you know where to look – if you own a small business, like I do, it’s definitely in your best interest to utilize them to promote your business. Many of these venues offer you the opportunity to add your business name, website, blog, etc., in your personal profile. From there, you make your own connections with like-minded individuals within those networks. Some of the online networks I have joined:
Many of these networks offer free membership. Introduce yourself, participate in discussions, and make your connections. You will generally receive warm welcome and wonderful offers of advice on social networking, marketing, and more. The added advantage with social networking - once you have made a connection you can add them in other networks where you are both a member.
For example, if you have a personal account on Facebook, you can create a Group or Page within your account to post your business information, all for free! So start networking now – it’s a win win for everyone involved! There is great potential in social networking for one and all. I, for one, shall reap the rewards of my connections!

Thanks Joel! I have been with both Twitter and Facebook for some time, and I must admit I don't use either of them exclusively for social networking / marketing. Facebook is more of a venue for me to keep in touch with family and friends out of province. But that's the beauty of some of these social networks, it doesn't have to necessarily be all work and no play! LOL
Lady Go Go, I have to agree with you :)
Social Networking offers many win win situations.
Good Hub.
Thanks Duchess, I learned from someone quite knowledgeable on the subject in fact; TTS not only played a part in showing me the pros and cons of social networking, but I also made a great friend in the bargain! :-)
Amen!
Facebook is awesome! I love that I can make my own page for my Avon business.
Yes, Facebook is pretty awesome! I have a Page for my Avon biz as well. :-)

I must admit - I was hesitant to join Twitter and Facebook, but now that I've checked them out, I'm hooked! Just like everything else, it's taking a while before the majority of people adopt it, but that day will come sooner than we know it. I'm sure of it!
Thanks for sharing. You've earned a thumbs up as well as a new fan.
