You’ve seen it everywhere and on almost every celebrity.  It’s not hard to do with a little time.  If you have some waves you can achieve a pretty nice curl with a few tools: a hair dryer, diffuser, gel or mousse to help define the curls, and if you have hair with no curl you want a barrel curl a curling iron.

How to get barrel curls like on Celebrities and Victoria Secret Models:

Dry your hair with about a dime size of product to prevent frizziness and have your medium sized curling iron warming up while you are drying your hair.  When your hairs is dry, section off the hair by pulling the top layer of your hair into a clip and curl the hair underneath.  You curl by leaving about an inch and a half of hair near your roots out of the curler and then roll the ends around the curler.  Leave it for a few minutes and then let it go.  You should get a soft barrel curl that’s so popular with celebs and Victoria secret models.  Keep pulling sections down and curling them until your down with your hair.  If you have long bangs you can curl the tips of the back slightly.  When your done run your fingers through your hair and then apply your favorite hair spray to help hold the curl in place.  Now you’re ready to head out the door looking fabulous.

How to Get Really Curly Hair:

If you want maximum curls from your hair and you have natural waves or culs, simply grab your favorite curl enhancing product and run the product through your fingers to warm it up.  Apply the product to wet hair from your scalp to ends and then place the diffuser on the hair dryer.  Flip your head down then place the diffuser at the bottom of your ends and push up to the scalp, scrunching the hair.  Apply a light spray as you diffuse your hair be patient and completely dry it and then when you’re done flip your head back over and spray again scrunching the hair up.  You should have gorgeous tight curls.

For Volume in bangs or on your Scalp:

When I worked at the salon we did this a lot.  If you want volume in your bangs or anywhere near your scalp first apply a dime sized amount of product from scalp to ends.  Next make a circular motion next to your scalp and point the hair dryer there as you dry.  Be careful to keep the hair dryer moving so you don’t burn your skin.  Your hair will have nice volume when you are done and you can just spray it and go.

The study of hair is known as Trichology.  Hair grows the fastest when you’re between the ages of 15 to 30 and it grows faster in women than men.  The growth starts to slow down from ages 50 to 60. 

You may worry when you’re in the shower and feel all that hair shedding from your head but you don’t need to.  Hair sheds on average of 50 to 80 hairs daily and the average life span of a piece of hair is 2 to 4 years.

You probably weren’t wondering about the shape of your hair follicle, until now.  By the way the hair follicle is a pocket in the scalp that holds the hair root.  If you have straight hair you have a round follicle, Wavy hair has an oval follicle, and Curly hair has a flat follicle.

Think blondes have more fun?  Well if you do you must be a blonde and if you’re blonde you do have the most hairs on your head.  Blondes have 140,000, Brunettes come in second at 110,000 hairs, black hair has 108,000, and sorry red heads but you come in last with 90,000 hairs.

Wondering about hair color still?  Well hair contains melanin or color unless someone is albino and they have a lack of pigment in the hair shaft.

How does hair become Gray?  Gray hair is the absence of color and it doesn’t turn gray it is grown that color from the root.
