How to get backlinks to your blog
63There are 3 ways to earn a backlink.
- Naturally
- Manually
- Through partnerships with other blogger
1. Naturally means other webmasters link to your content because they find it resourceful, interesting, humorous, creative, etc. So make sure you create such contents so people will give you link love.
You can also participate in forums to build your reputation on the subject you have chosen. When people see that you are active, and have great input, they will check your blog.
Linkbaiting is another way. Create content that meant to spread virally, leveraging social media sites and blogs with the intention to garnering many links in a short period of time. It will get links because the content got people's attention and they also want it to share. Submit the linkbait content you created to social bookmarking sites and social news sites such as:
2. Manually is done by submitting your link to directories, and imbed your link on 3rd party websites and syndicated content. Submit to directories such as http://dir.yahoo.com/ and http://www.dmoz.org/.
Create linkbuilding articles. Create accounts on blogger.com, wordpress.com, hubpages.com, and squidoo.com and publish articles on these sites. make sure your articles are original contents that have links to your blog posts, and also links to posts from other blogs.
Here are some of the 3rd party content pages I created:
Blogger - Google Conducts Web Search in Five Areas
Wordpress - I Am Loving Google More Everyday
To save time, but also avoid duplication of content, create just one original post and rewrite it 3 times. Make sure you maintain activity on these blogs, hubs, and lenses so that the search engines will index them, or at least make sure your target keywords are in the title, content, and tags so that the pages are optimized and will be noticed.
Also participate on social media sites that allows you to post a feed of your blog like http://mybloglog.com, http://blogcatalog.com, and http://bumpzee.com.
An account on Facebook would also help, by adding friends that are also interested in blogging and SEO. Install Facebook Apps that allow you to submit your feed. Or you can make use of the posted items, and notes -- apps which Facebook already added by default.
Another of manually adding backlinks is to comment on other blogs that have added NoFollow to outgoing links. Aside from getting a direct traffic, the nofollow tag will increase your search engine rankings as well. I suggest that you should create a quality comment. What I mean is, do not respond such as "great post!" "nice", but read the blog post and respond to what the blogger had written there. If you have a post that is similar to what you have written, include the link in your comment with a nice introduction. If his visitors read your comment and find it nice, they might as well check your blog, or the post you mentioned.
3. Through partnerships with other bloggers - If you have friends that have blogs you can ask them to include your blog in their blogroll, or ask them to include a link to your blog or to any of your posts whenever they are writing contents for their blog. You will also do the same way.

I would just like to know this last part mentioned by you regarding partnerships on blogs. Doesn't google mind putting up links on your blogger blog about other websites. I hear they consider them as spam blogs or splogs. is it true?
Well, don't make it appear as if you are just setting up the site for links. Those blogs where you want your site to be incuded in their blogroll should be legitimate sites, which updates regularly. Splogs usually have senseless blog posts, with a lot of links. As long as the site appear legitimate, then you should not have a problem. What your partners can do, is categorize the links in the blogroll.
