How to get rid of pimples in 5 easy steps

There's nothing worse than waking up in the morning and find you've got a huge pimple on your skin. Imagine it's the morning of your interview, first date or worse your wedding day! You have to get rid of that pimple as soon as possible! So if you've ever wondered how to get rid of pimples here's five steps you can take to clearing up your skin. Everyone can have pimple free skin if you follow these steps

Here's how to get rid of pimples on your skin quickly and safely:

1. If you're in need of a quick fix, why not try a little spot of toothpaste on the pimple. This is best done just before bed and then leave it until the next morning before removing it from your skin. You may find that the pimple on your face has disappeared or at least it has soothed the skin and reduced the irritation and reduced redness. You can also try a cotton ball or bud dipped in some lemon juice on the affected area. This works best if you apply it to the pimple for 5 minutes at a time. You should find that the swelling and redness goes down.

2. This point is more something not to do rather than something you can do to get rid of pimples! Don't ever pick, squeeze or pinch at a pimple as you'll only make it worse. It simply causes the pimple to come more inflamed so you're left with a big red blotch on your face as well as the nasty pimple. It can even help to spread the bacteria and oils in the pimple to other areas. We don't need a mass breakout as one pimple is hard enough to deal with! Another reason why you absolutely must not squeeze pimples is that it could leave you with scars if you burst it on your face. We definitely don't want to be dealing with acne scarring because of a silly little pimple.

3. For a period of say every 30 minutes, you should apply an ice pack to the pimple and hold it
there for about 2 minutes. Make sure the ice pack is pressed firmly against your skin to cover the whole area of the pimple. This again is a great way of reducing swelling and the redness that comes with pimples. It will also help to reduce inflammation.

4. Cleanse your skin 2 times a day with mild, unscented soap as prevention is the key for how to get rid of pimples. If you want to spend a bit more money you can purchase a specialized acne cleanser that has no harsh chemicals (such as
lye). There are lots of them on offer from your local drug store. If you take a shower in the morning make sure you scrub skin gently with an exfoliating pad or washcloth, but
don't rub too hard as the skin on your face can be quite sensitive and you'll end up with tender parts of skin. You will also strip your skin of its own natural oils.

5. Last but not least time to bring out the big guns to help you get rid of pimples! You can apply a cream or ointment containing benzyl peroxide or salicylic acid which again you can buy from your local store. Make sure you check the ingredient before you buy the cream. Apply this cream or ointment to the pimple or around the infected area making sure you follow the instructions that come with the treatment. Note that these ingredients both have a tendency to dry out skin so don't use too much. Stop using immediately if you do notice your skin drying out and for those of you who have sensitive skin don't use this method!

How to get rid of pimples isn't such of a puzzle if you follow the steps above. In the least you should notice a difference within a day or two. If you don't and are getting continual breakouts its best to go see your doctor who will refer you to a dermatologist who will be able to prescribe something stronger for you. They also provide you with a daily skin care routine which will help you to get rid of pimples. You should of course always speak to your doctor first if these things concern you.
