If you want to know how to get rid of ants, you first look out what attracts these ants and why they came around. Ants generally arrive in middle to late spring as soon as the weather conditions start showing increase in temperature. Ants can be found every where as well as you can find many types of ants such as red ants, black ants or any other type of ants.

If you are really interested to know how to get rid of ants, identify and remove the attracting substance such as food, sugar or any other sweet item. Most of the ants get attracted towards sweet, so do not keep open any sweet substance and clean the floor if you have poured some sweet substance on the floor. In summer the food should be refrigerated also as during summer the food and vegetables get spoiled quickly and attracts ants.

You should also clean the table promptly after having meal and take out all the trash out of your home. Try to place recycle bin as far as possible from your home. You should also avoid water pool in or around your house. Ants also need water regularly and water pool attract these often.

If you find any anthill near your home, destroy it by pouring some ant repellent on it. You may get these repellent in the market and sometimes the home made blend of water and citrus peeling also acts as repellent. You should also take care of cracks and repellent should be added at these places.

Some times you may need to pour hot water and repellent on the cracks. You may need to pour hot water over the mounds also. Enough hot water should be poured in cracks and mounds to get rid of ants. After pouring the water, you should also try to seal the cracks. Silicone caulk is the best material for sealing the crack as well as it is least toxic also.
