How to get the perfect eyebrow shape
68Eyebrows are one of the toughest parts of the face to make look right. Even if you know how they should look, sometimes they just do not want to do as they should, which often means trouble for you. So, what can you do to get the perfect eyebrow shape? Try the following:
Okay, the shape of the eyebrow is going to be determined by how dominant it is on your face. Often times the color can make your eyebrow too dominant, or fade too much into the background. If you have dark eyebrows there is not a ton you can do since it is unsafe to dye your eyebrows, but if they are light, you can use an eyebrow pencil to help them stand out a little more.
Once your eyebrow color is right, you need to focus on shape. Getting the perfect shape is not always easy, and is going to differ from person to person as the type of eyebrow hair you have, and length of those hairs will make a difference in how to shape your brows. Sometimes pulling out individual hairs can leave large gaps, or severely shorten the length of a brow. So, as you tweeze, be careful to consider your eyebrow's uniqueness.
Most agree that to get the perfect eyebrow shape you want an eyebrow that starts at the inside corner of your eye, where you tear duct is, and that ends at the outside corner of the eye, directly above your eyelashes. In addition to getting the right length, you want to get the ideal shape. The eyebrow should have an arch, and the arch should be above the iris. The arch should be a gradual one that slopes slightly. You do not want to go too intense, nor too quickly, as if you make the arch too high you will look like you are surprised, with raised eyebrows. So, start by getting the length right, then slowly pluck a hair or two a day until you like the shape, and arch of the brow.
Now the question is, how do you pluck your eyebrows the right way in order to get this shape? The answer, follow some simple do's and don'ts. There are several ways to shape brows, you can use tweezers, wax or you can go to a hair removal salon that does threading. Waxing is difficult to control, and threading is new, but a very good option, although it can be costly. Tweezing is the cheapest, and most accurate way to get the eyebrow shape you want, but follow the do's and don'ts below to keep them looking better longer.
First, tweeze from the bottom. The eyebrow experts say never, never to pluck your eyebrows from above, rather remove the hairs on the bottom. However, sometimes the truth is that you are going to have a stray hair or two above the brow, and it is fine to tweeze them out and get rid of them, but be sure to do so consistently.
The next thing to consider when tweezing eyebrows is if certain hairs should be trimmed or plucked. You probably will want to do both with your brows. In some cases eyebrow hair can be long and thick, and trimming them down make them more manageable, and better looking, however, you want to be careful not to trim them too short, otherwise you will look funny. Use an eyebrow brush when trimming and plucking to ensure you remove the right hairs.
Next, recognize that sometimes plucking is not the answer, at least not the cure all, in many cases your eyebrow hairs have a mind of their own, and to help them keep the right shape, and stay where they should a little dab of gel can go a long way.
