How to get traffic to your hub pages

One big mistake that most people make is that once they have created their hub page, that 's it. They don't do anything to try and get visitors to it. In the old days of "build it and they will come" that might have worked, but these days if you want people to visit your blog, website or hub page, you actually have to let the word out that your site exsists.

The one really good thing about having a hub page is that it will get picked up by Google soon after it is published. But one should not just rely on getting indexed in Google. There are some easy ways to increase visitors to your site almost instantly.

Not too many people know about the methods I am about to discuss below.

1. Ping your hub page

Yes, it's true. You can ping your hub page even though it is not a blog. Pinging your page at a Ping service will let a whole bunch of search engines know that your site exists. I use Kping because they seem to be really effective but you can also use Pingoat. To get your site pinged, you just have to enter your hub page URL in the field provided. Once you have entered your site URL and click on Start, it will send your site details to all the search engines on their list. What I like about Kping is that you can set it up so that they will re-check your site every now and again to look for new content. That means you only have to ping your site once, and after that it will automatically be checked.

2. Social Bookmark your hub page

Social bookmarking is a good way to get word out about your hub page as well as at the same time getting valuable back-links. There are many social bookmark sites out there, but you don't have to submit your site to all of them. I use a social bookmark service called Social Marker that will help you bookmark your sites to the top social bookmark sites. At the top of the entry page at the site they have a form at the top where you can enter the URL to your hub page, a title, a description and the tags for it. The tags are the same as the ones that you would have used to create your hub page, in other words, they are keyword phrases related to your content.

3. Write articles and submit it to the article directories

Another good way to increase visitors to your site is to write articles around your topic and to submit these articles to the top article directories like Ezine Articles, Go Articles etc. You are allowed to have an author bio in your article in which you can post a link back to your hub page. If you write informative articles, people will want to read your articles and if you can entice them in your author bio to do so, they will click through to your hub page to see what you have on offer.

There are many more ways out there to create an increase in visitors, but just these three tips alone should already help you to get more traffic to your hub page.

Hi Oberbreckling

Thanks for the comment :) Just as an example - I started this hub 2 days ago. My hub is already No1 on Google for How to monetize a hub page. I'm sure it would have done well in the rankings anyway, but the backlinks helped!

Excellent - thanks! Yep, I too thought pinging was only for blogs! Okay, found Kping not working. But PingGoat was fine so I got my 3 new hubs pinged. Now for the other stuff...
