Mangala Arotik Early Morning Worship Bhakti Yoga
All over India, the villagers wake up early and bath in the Ganges and then return to "greet the Deities" and practice their devotional chanting.
Many years ago, as I was going through a tumultuous period in my life, I joined an ashram in Boston and travelled the country, then India, where this was common practice. At first, it was very difficult, but with practice it became a wonderful and memorable time of my life. i was able to reach higher spiritual levels. Obviously, retiring early is necessary, if you want to get up at 3 AM.
There is a name for this time, Mangala Arotik", and rather than being a compulsory, meaningless activity, it was filled with meaning.
It was joyful!
And, I began to look forward to it. After many years of living in ashrams, I moved to my own home and now have my own small altar. If you would like to know more, you can visit the SCS Math home page and locate the nearest temple or, better yet, make your own home into a temple.

Thank you. It gives me great peace of mind when I go through your articles. If bhakti comes from the inner soul nothing can stand in its way. I think in todays world people really needs peace of mind not only by words but from one's within.
