Tips to grow merigold plants

Factors that are involved in growing Marigolds:--

Though Marigolds are easy to grow, some factors are to be considered while growing them most of them are listed below:
Sunlight:--- Marigolds can grow in full sun or in partial shady area, but it is preferable to place them in sunny locations .
Soil:-- Marigolds grow best in moist, well-drained and fertile soil.so we must prepare the soil well before planting it with sand clay and manaur .
Spacing:--- Grow your Marigold varieties 40cms apart from each other so that they will fot hamper the growth of other plants growing along with it and also give room to the growing
branches of its neighbouring plant. This will result in a uniform display.
Temperature suitable for growing:- Minimum temperature to grow marigold plant is 10*c. and temperature to germinate the seeds is 19°C.
Watering: Marigolds do not require regular watering but during the dry spells we must take care that enough water is sprinkled onto the plants. Be careful not to sprinkle water on the flowers of tall varieties, otherwise they become water-logged and soft and may get spoilt. It is advisable to water Marigolds during the early hours of the morning so that there is enough
time for the water on the foliage to dry up.
Fertilizer requirement:-- Marigolds do not require fertilizers feed if the soil is rich in organic material. For low quality of soil, granular fertilizer 1 teaspoon/ plant could be added, but be careful not to exceed the said amount of fertilizers if exceeded it may result in an increased growth of foliage instead of flowers.
Mulching:----When the marigold seedlings are tall enough, we must spread a two to three inches layer of some organic material eg:- dried grass, wood chips or chopped leaves on the soil around the plants. This reduces weeding, retains moisture in the soil for the plant, keep the soil cool, and fertilizes the soil as these organic materials decomposes.
Pruning: of the plant :-----Marigolds do not require much pruning, as deadheading is good for marigolds as it suppresses seeding and encourages blooming of flowers.
Staking or supporting:- Provide staking for tall plants of Marigolds to protect them from
strong winds & heavy rain. Insert a stick behind the plant and tie it with some soft material like plastic rope.
Marigolds have a pungent smell, so insects do not trouble them instead this plant is used as an insect repallent, The seeds are ontained from the flower itself if we tear the flower the black ends of each petal is the seed part of the plant and is used to grow sow and grow seedlings
