How to grow grey (or white) gracefully

I have been trying to cover up or rather disguise my grey hairs by tinting it light brown with the odd STRIPE of blonde for quite a few years now, when the other day my hairdresser asked me whether I had realised that all my hair near my face was no longer grey but white? I hadn't actually noticed but felt quite pleased about it because I told her that if that was the case then she wasn't to bother with my stripes any more, I wanted them to be left just natural because after all white is almost near blonde and so why was I going to harm my hair unneccesarily by putting a blonde dye onto white hair

She is going to carry on tinting the parts that are still grey but as they slowly turn into white as well, which they will in time, she will also leave these alone so that eventually I will end up with a full head of white hair and my days of tinting will be over.

There is no need for white or grey hair to be frizzy so long as you moisturize it well and pass a large round brush through it as you go pulling it down straight while you point the hair dryer at it.

I also don't think that you necessarily have to cut your hair short just because you get to a certain age. White hair can look okay at any length and there are no rules any more as to what sort of hair style you should wear when you get older. They used to say years ago that once you got over forty it was more fitting for a woman of that age to cut her hair short but that doesn't apply any more.  I am sure you have all seen how many older actresses still wear their hair long like Meryl Streep, Catherine Deneuve, Goldie Hawn and Brigitte Bardot but to name a few.

You can wear it exactly the way you want - short or long and if long you can even wear it tied back in a soft bun, although here it has to be stressed that it should be a very soft and loose bun because if hair is pulled back too tightly when we get to these ages it will look too severe and possibly make you look even older and while we are trying to age gracefully we don't want to look as if we are more aged than we actually are!
