A skin care regime

You want smooth skin, you need to take care of your skin. That much is clear. The best way of caring for your skin is to establish a fixed regime to nourish and yes, pamper your skin. Your skin is probably the biggest organ of your body as it covers your whole body and to ensure that it is healthy and smooth, you need to take good care of it.

Simply soaping your skin, towelling it dry and leaving it to the elements is not good enough. Caring for your skin does not only means keeping it clean but it means giving it extra nourishment in the form of creams and lotions.

Of course, you need not be spending loads of money getting expensive lotions and creams to pamper your skin. Just the basic will do. For example, your face. Just get a facial wash, toner, moisturiser and if you have acne, an acne busting product like benzoyl peroxide, and you are all set.

When it comes to the rest of your body, you need to also use moisturising lotion for the body to ensure that you keep it protected and retain the moisture.

What skin care products to use

When choosing your skin care products, you need to look at how your skin reacts to it. No single product is suitable for everyone. We are all different and the same goes for our skin and what our skin prefers.

So, if you have acne problems, it is best that you get the hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic kinds of products to try on your skin. This means, you need to experiment with small bottles of the skin care products to check its effectiveness on caring and protecting your skin without causing a break out.

Once you come across a product that your skin seems to accept, stick to it! And yes, keep to your skin care regime of cleansing, toning and moisturising. Furthermore, in todays changing climate, it is best that you always use moisturising lotions or creams that has sunblock in it.

Why use sunblock?

Sunblock is probably the most important ingredient that you should use on your skin, whether it is your face or your hands or even your feet. For best effect, slather it all over your body. So, what if you want a tan?

Well, consider this. The sun causes the most damage to the skin and believe it or not, it is the main reason that you are developing wrinkles and brown spots. So, if you want your skin to look older than you really are, forget about getting the tan! It is much better if you get a spray-on tan than a real tan from being out in the sun for too long.

Other than aging your skin, the sun rays can also cause skin cancer. So, slap on the strongest sunblock you can find to block out the harmful rays of the sun. And if you really must get a natural tan from the sun, you still should use a milder sunblock which will block out the harmful rays but will still let you get a tan.

Just remember one thing, sunblock is your best friend in ensuring that your skin do to age faster than you due to over-exposure to the sun.

Your skin is what you eat

Yes, you really, really need to consume loads of healthy vegetables and fruits and any anti-oxidant rich foods to protect your skin. As much as you protect your skin with lotions and creams, you will still need to 'feed' it with nourishment from natural produce like fruits and vegetables.

When you consume anti-oxidant rich foods, it will give your skin a wonderful boost and result in healthy, smooth and shiny skin. Combine that with the external protection you put on your skin, before long you will have smooth, supply skin that everyone envy!
