How to install a ceiling fan

When you plan to install a ceiling in a room you have to consider the room size including those things that are on the walls. The reason why I tried to mention these things is because they should be considered when buying your ceiling fan.

There are some ceiling fans with corresponding control switch which you need to install just like a light switch. It should be located to where it is accessible and mounted on the wall by a certain height from the floor.

Ceiling fans comes in different sizes particularly the blade that goes with it. Some ceiling fans have wider blades. You have to check the actual blade length and try to give a space between the end of the blade & the wall before you can mount a ceiling fan on the ceiling.

If your ceiling is plywood mounted on wooden studs there is no problem with how you will mount the ceiling fan base on the ceiling material. But if you have a ceiling different from what I have mentioned it is better to study on how you will hook up the fan base on the ceiling.

Once you have solved it you will start now by trying to measure the distance of one end of the blade to the center of the base. Mark this distance on the ceiling to where a ceiling stud is located and try to give a good clearance between the wall & the end of the blade. Study where to put the location of fastener hole on the stud and try to reflect the holes of the base by using a pencil or something that you can see on the ceiling when you mark. Fasteners or wood screws are already provided in the ceiling fan package.

If you are using a ceiling fan with a separate switch then you need to wire this and place wherever you want to place. But if you have a ceiling fan with the separate switch then a pull wire is supplied with the ceiling fan to serve as the fan on and off switch.

Tapping point for you power supply must be present and if you are not an experienced electrician try not to connect this from the power source. But if you knew how to connect this properly then no problem provided you close the main disconnect of you panel board before proceeding with the tapping to the power source. Better call an electrician who is capable of doing this tapping job for you.
